Lightning Debugger Client (LDC) is built with Delphi 2007 and is a FREE program released for the use of the PostgreSQL community.

Currently LDC only implements "Direct Debugging".  Direct debugging is where you directly execute a function and debug it.  The PL/pgSQL debugger client also supports "Context Debugging". Context Debugging is where you start a listener and set a global breakpoint.  The debugger then trips over the first back end process to trigger the global breakpoint.  This type can make debugging things like web applications a  bit easier as you don't have to supply the input parameters.  LDC can do this type of debugging also but we have elected not to surface it to the end user as it currently does not work well at all on the win32 version of PostgreSQL 8.3.  When it can be determined that "Context" based debugger works as well on win32 ad Linux/Unix we will provide support for it.

At a future date we will add the same functionality to Lightning Admin, so our registered users can have the debugging capability directly from the function editor.

If you may have problems and we encourage you to report them here.  Please provide a way for use to reproduce the problem as this will make a fix available to you much faster.

Thanks for trying it out.

What port LDC uses? And can it be changed if postgres uses something other then default?

By default it uses 5432 (the postgresql default).
The first beta didn't have the option to set the port, but the current version available for download you can set the port.
If you have a older version, download and install it again.

Thanks,

AM Software.
